If this is seen on startup it would normally indicate it cannot commit to a COM port for ALI.
Check if the Digi device is pingable.
We recommend restarting the Digi Realport service or rebooting the Digi device. This can be done from the server by using the Digi Device Discovery Utility located in the C:\Hubtech\System\Installation Files\Digi folder the filename looks similar to "DeviceDiscoveryUtilityforWindows-Standaloneversionver.1.7.22.0"
Symptoms
If <An Unexpected Network Error Occurred> error appears when the Map Server starts, it typically indicates that the application is unable to establish communication with the configured Digi RealPort COM port.
Cause
This issue is usually caused by one of the following:
The Digi device is offline or unreachable on the network.
The Digi RealPort service has stopped or is not functioning correctly.
The COM port is locked or unavailable.
A network interruption has prevented communication with the Digi device.
Resolution
Step 1 – Verify Network Connectivity
Confirm that the Digi device is reachable by pinging its IP address from the server.
Open Command Prompt.
Run:
ping <Digi Device IP Address>
If the device does not respond, verify the network connection, power, and IP configuration before continuing.
Step 2 – Restart the Digi RealPort Service
In many cases, restarting the Digi RealPort service restores communication.
Open Services (
services.msc).Locate the Digi RealPort service.
Restart the service.
Attempt to start the ALI application again.
Step 3 – Reboot the Digi Device
If restarting the service does not resolve the issue, reboot the Digi device.
The easiest method is to use the Digi Device Discovery Utility, located on the server at:
C:\Hubtech\System\Installation Files\Digi\
The utility filename is similar to:
DeviceDiscoveryUtilityforWindows-Standaloneversionver.1.7.22.0.exe
Using the utility:
Launch the Digi Device Discovery Utility.
Locate the Digi device in the list.
Confirm the device status is Online.
Select the device and choose Reboot.
Wait several minutes for the device to restart.
Verify the device responds to a ping.
Restart the ALI application.
If the Issue Persists
If communication still cannot be established after completing the above steps:
Verify the configured COM port matches the Digi RealPort configuration.
Confirm the Digi RealPort driver is installed correctly.
Check Windows Event Viewer for RealPort or COM port errors.
Verify no other application is using the COM port.
Contact IDS Applications Support if additional assistance is required.
